World No Tobacco Day History, Theme, and Its Purpose:

World No Tobacco Day is observed globally on May 31 every year. The day is intended to raise awareness about the health risks associated with tobacco use and to encourage people to quit smoking.

History:

The day was first observed by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1987, and since then, it has been celebrated annually to draw attention to the harmful effects of tobacco use on health and to advocate for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption.

2021: the theme is “Commit to Quit”

The theme for this year 2023 is “We need food, not tobacco”
