UGC NET June 2024 – Notification, Important dates, Exam Pattern Syllabus, and other important details:

The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) is a prestigious examination conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to determine the eligibility of candidates for the roles of Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship in Indian universities and colleges. The UGC-NET is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode twice every year (June & December).  Check below for the UGC-NET June 2024 Notification PDF, Important dates, Syllabus, and other important details:

The UGC NET June 2024 cycle exam will be conducted from June 10 to December 21, 2024, for 83 subjects, at selected cities across the country. The registration process for the exam started on April 20, 2024, and will end on May 10, 2024 (5 pm). Interested candidates can apply online at the official website of UGC NET — https://ugcnet.nta.ac.in/.



Important dates of UGC NET June 2024:

  • Starting Date for Apply Online & Payment of Fee: 20-04-2024
  • Last Date to Apply Online: 10-04-2024 up to 05:00 PM
  • Last date for successful transaction of Examination fee (through Credit Card/ Debit Card/Net Banking/UPI Payment Modes): 11-05-2024 and 12-05-2024 up to 11:50 PM
  • Correction in particulars of the Application Form on the website only: 13-05-2024 to 15-05-2024 up to 11:50 PM
  • Date of Examination: 16-06-2024
  • Intimation of Cities of Exam Centres: To be Intimated Later
  • Downloading of Admit Card by the Candidate from NTA Website: To be Intimated Later
  • Duration of Examination: 180 minutes (03 hours), No break between Paper 1 & Paper 2
  • Timing of Examination: First Shift: 09.00 am to 12.00 pm & Second Shift: 03.00 pm to 06.00 pm
  • Display of Recorded Responses and Provisional Answer Keys on the Website for inviting challenge(s) from Interested candidates: To be announced later on the website
  • Declaration of Result on NTA website:  To be Intimated Later

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must have secured at least 55% marks in their post-graduation or equivalent from a recognized university. Final-year students are also eligible to appear for the exam.

Age Limit (as on 01-06-2024):

  • For Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), the upper age limit is 30 years.
  • There is no upper age limit for applying for the Assistant Professor role.

Selection Process:

  • The selection process involves two papers – Paper I and Paper II. Candidates must score above the cut-off in both papers to be considered for eligibility.

Exam Pattern:

  • Paper I: General paper on teaching and research aptitude.
  • Paper II: Subject-specific paper based on the candidate’s post-graduation subject.
  • Both papers are conducted in an OMR Based.




Application fee:

  • For General/ Unreserved candidates have to pay Rs. 1150/- as an application fee.
  • For General-EWS/OBC-NCL candidates have to pay Rs. 600/- as an application fee.
  • SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates have to pay Rs. 325/-.
  • The fee can be paid online using debit card/credit card/net banking/UPI/Paytm services till May 12, 2024 (11:50 pm).
