UGC NET 2023 Notification, Application form, Last date, Syllabus, and other important information:

The University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) is a test to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian universities and colleges. The UGC-NET is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode twice every year (June & December).

The UGC NET December 2023 cycle exam will be conducted from December 6 to December 22, 2023, in 83 subjects, at selected cities across the country. The registration process for the exam started on September 30, 2023, and will end on October 28, 2023 (5 pm). Interested candidates can apply online at the official website of UGC NET — ugcnet.nta.ac.in.

Selection Process:

The exam will consist of two papers: Paper I and Paper II. Paper I will have 50 objective-type questions of two marks each, covering general topics such as teaching/research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. Paper II will have 100 objective-type questions of two marks each, based on the subject selected by the candidate. The total duration of the exam will be three hours, with no break between the papers.

The candidates who qualify for the award of Junior Research Fellowship are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professorship. The candidates who qualify only for Assistant Professorship are not eligible to be considered for the award of JRF. Candidates who qualify for the eligibility test for Assistant Professorship are governed by the rules and regulations of the concerned Universities/Colleges/State Governments, as the case may be for the recruitment of Assistant Professors.

The result of the UGC NET December 2023 cycle exam will be declared on the official website of NTA as per schedule. The e-certificates and JRF award letters will also be issued by NTA to the qualified candidates.

Application fee:

• For General/ Unreserved candidates have to pay Rs. 1150/- as an application fee.
• For General-EWS/OBC-NCL candidates have to pay Rs. 600/- as an application fee.
• SC/ST/PwD/Transgender candidates have to pay Rs. 325/-.
• The fee can be paid online using debit card/credit card/net banking/UPI/Paytm services till October 29, 2023 (11:50 pm).
