i). Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi stated that GST on Haj has been reduced from 18% to 5% and this will significantly lower the airfare thus saving Haj pilgrims’ 113 crore rupees this year.

ii). Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced “Jiban Sampark” project in partnership with UNICEF India to generate awareness about the development and welfare initiatives of state government among the Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups of the state. The announcement was made after Patnaik inaugurated the annual tribal fair popularly known as “Adivasi Mela”.

iii). Uttarakhand’s first tulip garden will come up over 50 hectares of forest land in Pithoragarh district at a cost of Rs 50 crore. The state government has obtained the Centre’s nod for development of the garden.

iv). Suman Kumari has become the first Hindu woman to have been appointed as a civil judge in Pakistan after passing an examination for induction of judicial officers. The first judge from the Hindu community was Justice Rana Bhagwandas, who served as the acting chief justice for brief periods between 2005 and 2007.

v). India received the Award of Excellence for ‘Best in Show’ at the New York Times Travel Show 2019, the largest travel show in North America. India was honoured during the Closing Bell Ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange. The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India participated as the ‘Presenting Partner’ in the New York Times Travel Show (NYTTS 2019) organised at Jacob K Javits Centre, New York.

vi). The Council of Europe had launched a Data Protection Day to be celebrated each year on 28 January, the date on which the Council of Europe’s data protection convention, known as “Convention 108”, was opened to the signature. Data Protection Day is now celebrated globally and is called Data Privacy Day outside Europe.

vii). The Union Human Resources Development Ministry has signed an agreement with Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for India’s Participation in Programme for International Student Assessment- PISA 2021. The students will be selected by PISA through random sampling. The schools run by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) and schools in the UT of Chandigarh would be participating.

viii). The Delhi government has decided to introduce the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers based on the report of the MS Swaminathan Commission. A three-member committee was formed in December to study the MS Swaminathan Commission’s report. The committee has submitted its report. The report will be put before experts for suggestions. Once the MSP is finalised, the government will hold meetings with farmers, seeking their views and thereafter it will be sent to the Cabinet.

ix). India has replaced Japan as the world’s second-largest steel producing country, only behind China, which is the largest producer of crude steel accounting for more than 51 per cent of production, as per the latest report by World Steel Association.

i). ஹஜ் மீது ஜி.எஸ்.டி 18 சதவீதத்திலிருந்து 5 சதவீதமாக குறைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளதாக மத்திய அமைச்சரவை அமைச்சர் முக்தார் அப்பாஸ் நவ்வி கூறியுள்ளார்.

ii). ஒடிசா முதலமைச்சர் நவீன் பட்நாயக் யுனிசெப் இந்தியாவுடன் இணைந்து ஜிபான் சாம்பர்க் திட்டத்தை அறிவித்துள்ளார். மாநிலத்தின் குறிப்பாக பாதிக்கப்படும் பழங்குடி குழுக்களில் மாநில அரசு வளர்ச்சி மற்றும் நலன்புரி முயற்சிகள் பற்றிய விழிப்புணர்வை ஏற்படுத்துவதற்காக யுனிசெப் இந்தியாவுடன் இணைந்து செயல்பட்டுள்ளது. பட்நாயக் “ஆதிவாசி மேளா” என்று அழைக்கப்படும் வருடாந்திர பழங்குடி இனத்தை திறந்து வைத்தார்.

iii). உத்தரகண்ட் முதல் துலிப் தோட்டம் 50 ஹெக்டேர் பரப்பளவில் பித்தோராகர் மாவட்டத்தில் 50 கோடி ரூபாய் செலவில் உருவாகியது.

iv). நீதிபதிகள் பதவியேற்பதற்கான தேர்வில் தேர்ச்சி பெற்ற பிறகு பாகிஸ்தானில் ஒரு சிவில் நீதிபதியாக நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள முதல் இந்து பெண் சுமன் குமாரி. இந்து சமூகத்தின் முதல் நீதிபதி ராணா பக்வந்தாஸ் ஆவார், இவர் 2005 மற்றும் 2007 ஆம் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு இடைப்பட்ட காலத்தில் நடிப்பு தலைமை நீதிபதியாக பணியாற்றினார்.

v). நியூயார்க் டைம்ஸ் டிராவல் ஷோ 2019 இல் ‘சிறந்த ஷோ’க்காக வட இந்தியாவில் மிகப்பெரிய பயண நிகழ்ச்சியாக இந்தியாவுக்கு சிறப்பு விருது வழங்கப்பட்டது. நியூயார்க் பங்குச் சந்தையில் நிறைவுபெறும் பெல் விழாவில் இந்தியா விருது பெற்றது. நியூயார்க் டைம்ஸ் டிராவல் ஷோவில் (NYTTS 2019) நியூயார்க்கில் உள்ள ஜேக்கப் கே ஜாவிட்ஸ் மையத்தில் ஏற்பாடு செய்யப்பட்டு, ‘இந்தியாவைச் சேர்ந்த சுற்றுலாத்துறை அமைச்சகம்’ பங்கேற்றது.

vi). ஐரோப்பிய கவுன்சில் 28 ஜனவரி அன்று ஒவ்வொரு ஆண்டும் ஜனவரி மாதம் “Data Protection Day” கொண்டாடப்படும்.

vii). எம்.எஸ். சுவாமிநாதன் ஆணையத்தின் அறிக்கையின் அடிப்படையில் விவசாயிகளுக்கு குறைந்தபட்ச ஆதரவு விலை (எம்.எஸ்.பி) அறிமுகப்படுத்த முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளது. எம்.எஸ். சுவாமிநாதன் ஆணையத்தின் அறிக்கையைப் படிப்பதற்காக டிசம்பர் மாதத்தில் மூன்று உறுப்பினர்கள் குழு அமைக்கப்பட்டது. குழு அதன் அறிக்கையை சமர்ப்பித்துள்ளது. அறிக்கைகள் பரிந்துரைகளுக்கு முன் அறிக்கை வைக்கும். எம்.எஸ்.பி முடிவுக்கு வந்தபின், அரசாங்கம் விவசாயிகளுடன் கூட்டங்களை நடத்த வேண்டும், அதன் கருத்துக்களைக் கோருவது, அதன்பிறகு அது அமைச்சரவைக்கு அனுப்பப்படும்.

viii). உலகின் இரண்டாவது பெரிய எஃகு உற்பத்தியாளராக இந்தியா திகழ்கிறது. இது உலகின் எஃகு சங்கத்தின் சமீபத்திய அறிக்கையின்படி, 51 சதவீதத்திற்கும் அதிகமான கச்சா எஃகு கணக்கியல் உற்பத்தியில் சீனாவின் பின்னால் உள்ளது.
