• 21 February is observed as International Mother Language Day: The day is observed every year to promote linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. International Mother Language Day, the theme for 2020 is “Languages without borders“. It aims to promote unity in diversity and international understanding, through multilingualism and multiculturalism.
• India becomes the World’s Cleanest petrol and diesel from April 1, 2020: India will join the select League of Nations using petrol & diesel which contains 10ppm (parts per million) of Sulphur which cuts down vehicular discharge that is stated to be one of the reasons for pollution.
• India’s tallest pier bridge in Manipur: The Northern frontier railway construction has constructed India’s tallest railway pier bridge. Built across the Makru River in the Tamenglong district, near Noney of Manipur.
• Third Most Spoken Languages: Hindi becomes the third most spoken language, 615 million speakers all over the world. First English with 1,132 million speakers followed by Mandarin with 1,117 million
• Endangered Migratory Species” at CMS COP13: Asian Elephant, Great Indian Bustard and Bengal Florican classified as “Endangered Migratory Species” at CMS COP13. The proposal was accepted by 130 Countries.

Polity:

• CVC new Commissioner Sanjay Kothari: President Secretary Sanjay Kothari has to become a new Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC).
• GOI sets up the Consumer Protection Act: The Government of India is to set up a Consumer Protection Authority in order to implement the Consumer Protection Act. The authority is to begin working from April 2020. The Consumer Protection Bill, 2019 was approved the Parliament in 2019 replacing Consumer Protection Act, 1986.

Education:

• India ranks 35th in 2019 WEFFI: The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) published the Worldwide Educating for the Future Index (WEFFI) India jumped five ranks and secured 35th rank in the list.

Sports:

• India to host the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup: Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) Women’s Committee has announced that India will host the 2022 AFC Women’s Asian Cup. The tournament was awarded to India with an aim to maximize the promotion of the game.

• 2022 AFC மகளிர் ஆசிய கோப்பையை இந்தியா நடத்தவுள்ளது: ஆசிய கால்பந்து கூட்டமைப்பின் (AFC) பெண்கள் ஆசிய கோப்பையை இந்தியா நடத்தும் என்று அறிவித்துள்ளது. விளையாட்டின் ஊக்குவிப்பை அதிகப்படுத்தும் நோக்கில் இந்த போட்டி இந்தியாவுக்கு வழங்கப்பட்டது.

தமிழ்நாடு:
